Legislation

The ACDL-NJ is dedicated to advocating on behalf of the fair administration of criminal justice in New Jersey and across the nation. Through its Legislation Committee -- historically, one of the Association’s most important committees -- the ACDL-NJ monitors, evaluates, publicly comments, and testifies before legislative bodies on proposed or new legislation. The ACDL-NJ also participates in the same manner on proposed changes to New Jersey Court Rules and administrative regulations. In the past, our positions have led to reconsideration of proposed laws and regulations, and to heightened awareness by the judiciary of potential deficiencies in newly-enacted legislation.
